Condolences to David Perugini and His Family on the Passing of His Father

After a seven-hour ride, Martha and I joined brother Rick at Dad’s bedside at the New York State V.A. Home in Montrose, New York. Dad was not conscious, but the three of us shared Dad stories, talked to him, thanked him, told him we loved him, and then, after an hour of celebrating his place in our lives, at just a few minutes past 9:00pm, our Dad, Philip Paul Perugini, gently passed away. We are so greatly sad, but equally grateful that Dad stuck around long enough to let us share those treasured moments with him and with each other.  He was a good man, and a great father.

The accompanying photo was taken by Rick just a few days ago. It's how I will want to remember my father.

-------

David, although many of us didn't know your dad personally, we all remember his presence during our OHS days.  Your Facebook friends have gotten to know him through your posts and pictures. Learning about his military service as a member of the "Band of Brothers" (Easy Company /506th Parachute Infantry Regiment) and following his recent years has been a delight. Your family has become our family and it saddens all of us to learn of his passing. May you all find comfort and peace in wonderful memories.

For sure, his final call over the great intercom in the sky must've been, "Phil Perugini, please come to Heaven's gates." Rest in Peace, Mr. Perugini.
